Canton Coverup Part 482: Multiple Sources Report Federal Investigation Into Karen Read Case Is Ongoing, Hank Brennan Likely Leaked Misinformation Through Sources To Ted Daniel And Kristina Rex

On Monday Ted Daniel reported that two sources told him that the US Attorney’s Office contacted State Police, the Canton Police, and the Norfolk County DA’s Office, and told them that the federal investigation of the Karen Read case has ended. I can now report with confidence that these sources reported misinformation to Ted Daniel.

Multiple sources I’ve spoken with have confirmed that the federal investigation is ongoing, and the sources I’ve received this information from are not repeating a second hand story.

Ted Daniel has been widely criticized by the McAlbert Mafia for his perceived bias towards the defense, simply because he reports the facts. Seeing that Ted was the one who reported this news, which was clearly not good for the defense, seemed to legitimize it with many, including me. As someone who seeks truth and justice in this case I was obviously reluctant to believe it, but it made it harder to do so because it was reported by Ted Daniel. Ted trusts his sources and wouldn’t report information if it came from people he didn’t have longstanding professional relationships with.

However, Ted didn’t get any confirmation on this from the NCDAO, the State Police, or the Canton Police, all of whom didn’t comment or didn’t return his phone calls and/or messages. According to his reporting, the two sources who reached out to him were “briefed on conversations that occurred between the US Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement.”

“Briefed on conversations” means they heard it second hand. Ted hasn’t spoken to anyone with direct knowledge of this. He obviously trusts his sources, but I’m a little surprised he would trust anyone this much.

What I can report to you with undeniable certainty, is that the the federal investigation is in fact ongoing with the new administration at the USAO in Boston. I realize that by not revealing proof this story will not be picked up by any other media outlets, and this will not be convincing to anyone who supports the Commonwealth, especially considering my bias towards the defense. But I’m not writing this in order to change anyone’s mind. I’m writing this because I know it as a fact to be true, and the people who Ted Daniel spoke with either intentionally lied to him or were lied to themselves.

Hank Brennan is a highly respected, well connected, and devious attorney who has transformed the prosecution’s strategy by attempting to use the media to push their agenda. He has done many things Lally has not, including:

• Referencing and pointing to the media during his orations
• Constantly seeking headlines in an attempt to taint a potential jury pool by suggesting that defense witnesses aren’t qualified to testify, knowing full well that they will be allowed to testify
• Smearing the reputation of defense witnesses and urging online trolls to harass and intimidate them in order to prevent them from testifying

If I had to guess, I would assume that Ted’s sources are attorneys he has had longstanding professional relationships with, who have given him accurate tips on stories before. It would have to be someone with ties to the State Police, NCDAO, or MSP, in order to be “briefed” about conversations that occurred with these institutions and the USAO. In order for Ted to trust and believe these sources it would have to be someone he knows has a relationship with Hank Brennan, such as an attorney.

This would align with Brennan’s overall prosecutorial strategy, and would explain why both sources felt so confident in reporting the same thing – that Brennan would announce in court at Tuesday’s hearing that the federal investigation was over.

How would two sources “briefed” about a conversation between the USAO and the NCDAO know for certain that Hank Brennan would make this announcement in court, unless they spoke to Brennan themselves? Who else would know what Brennan planned to speak about? If they spoke to someone who spoke to someone, then Ted wouldn’t have ran with it. It had to be someone who Ted Daniel knew had access to Brennan. The source of this story is clearly Brennan himself, and this is likely just his latest attempt to use the media to taint the jury pool. It’s the only way he thinks he can win this case because prior to his involvement the defense completely dominated the media narrative.

Shortly after Ted published his story Kristina Rex from WBZ reported similar news from “a person briefed on the situation.”

Her source is likely the same source that reached out to Ted Daniel. It would make sense, as Brennan knows that Rex and and Daniel are the two mainstream media reporters who have had the most direct access to the Read and O’Keefe families. Rex also reached out to the USAO who had no comment.

But two weeks ago Rex sat down with the new USAO Leah Foley and asked her if the federal investigation was closed or ongoing. Foley told her that she “cannot confirm or deny if any investigation is pending, opened, closed, or anything.”

Yet two weeks later, the day before a widely publicized and anticipated hearing involving the ARCCA experts, the USAO suddenly decided it would be a good time to alert all of these institutions that the investigation was over, and then none of the institutions or the USAO want to comment on it?

OK.

Why would the USAO tell all these people and institutions (Canton Police, NCDAO, MSP) that their investigation is over? It’s not logical. In the words of Bunk Moreland – murder stay murder.

The federal government did not spend half a million dollars to hire experts from ARCCA to tell them if John O’Keefe was hit by a car, only to tell the very people they were investigating that the investigation was over after discovering that he wasn’t hit by a car, and the people they were investigating did in fact cover up the murder of a Boston Police Officer. They obviously don’t feel confident that they have enough to convict anyone, but they know that Karen Read didn’t hit OJO with her car, which means they know someone else did. The federal government is not just going to close the book on that investigation entirely, conveniently a month before Karen Read’s trial is supposed to start, then contact all of the people they were investigating to let them know they’re off the hook, and then refuse to comment when asked by the media.

Think about this logically. The State Police, Canton Police, and NCDAO have been smeared and had their reputations damaged in the worst possible way as a result of the federal investigation in the Karen Read investigation. They want us to believe that the USAO reached out to these institutions to let them know that they had all been exonerated, and then not ONE of them will return a phone call from Ted Daniel or Kristina Rex to gloat about it? The State Police defended Michael Proctor (until his disgusting text messages came out in court), despite the fact that he had the fact that he had close familial ties to most of the key witnesses in his “investigation,” but they won’t make a statement in defense of Brian Tully and Yuri Bukhenik now that USAO allegedly contacted them to let them know they’ve been cleared? Helena Rafferty has gone out of her way to make public statements defending the McAlberts and her police department, but now that she’s been directly contacted by the USAO to let her know that CPD did nothing wrong she has nothing to say?

That makes no sense. But Hank Brennan leaking a lie to some well connected lawyer friends of his a month before trial starts in order to drastically affect public opinion not only makes sense, but is fully consistent with the trial by media strategy he’s been using for the last 3 months.

So why didn’t Hank Brennan, who clearly loves using the media to affect public opinion, use the spotlight he had yesterday to announce what these two sources briefed on the conversations had told Ted Daniel and Kristina Rex? Simple – he’s not going to make up such an egregious lie in court, knowing full well that the federal government is watching and will know that he’s lying.

Why hasn’t he issued a press release like Michael Morrissey did with the August 25, 2023 hostage video, telling the media that he was contacted by the USAO and told that the federal investigation was over? Simple – he can just lie to his two well respected “sources,” knowing that they will have credibility with Daniel and Rex, and it can have almost the same effect as Brennan announcing it himself. People believe Ted Daniel’s reporting especially because of his perceived bias towards the defense, and Ted wouldn’t be lying by simply reporting what reputable sources had told him.

It’s the only scenario that makes any sense.

Conveniently after court a “second source close to the investigation” spoke with Kristina Rex to tell her that they had received notification that the federal investigation was over.

This is likely because she looked foolish after previously reporting that Brennan would make an announcement in court, and needed reassurance that she hadn’t reported misinformation. Hiding behind an anonymous source means you can blame the lie on someone else.

Most suspiciously, as part of his motion to exclude the ARCCA experts from testifying, Hank Brennan included two exhibits that he asked to be impounded. These included a letter from the USAO, which they wrote to him after Spanky reached out and asked them for “discoverable material.”

If the USAO wrote a letter to him just a few weeks ago, wouldn’t they have mentioned that the federal investigation was over? If this letter did anything to make it seem like the federal investigation was over, then why would Brennan want to have that impounded? What is Brennan hiding in this letter? Again, this is a man who has chosen a trial by media strategy, and suddenly he doesn’t want the media to report that he received a letter letting him know that the federal investigation was over?

Hank Brennan appears to be using Ted Daniel and Kristina Rex the same way Jennifer McCabe used Kerry Roberts, the O’Keefe’s, Krusty Panties, and Plevin.

If I were Ted Daniel or Kristina Rex I’d be pressing my sources to speak with whoever “briefed” them on the news that the federal investigation was over. I get that this story got them a lot of clicks, and that they themselves haven’t reported anything that they know to be untrue, but it appears as if they’ve been used by Brennan in his attempt to further taint a potential jury pool.
