Billerica Man Retaliates Against Neighbor Sal’s Pizza For Not Putting Up A Bigger Fence By Writing NSFW Message On His Own Barn

In January 2018 a neighbor of Sal’s Pizza in Billerica expressed his displeasure over the chain’s rebuild project by decorating his barn.

The owner of the barn, Arthur Lynch, wrote this term because he has been upset with the rebuild project at Sal’s Pizza, despite the business following every condition of the permit that was approved by Billerica boards.

“They made my whole yard into a fishbowl,” Lynch, 66, who lives at 324 Boston Road, said on Tuesday. “The fence used to be higher, so you couldn’t see. Now, the new fence is lower, so you can sit there in the car and watch my whole house.

“If they raise the fence, I’ll take douchebag off the house, but otherwise, I’m probably gonna add more,” he added.

Lynch also said that douchebag is not an obscene word. However, seeing this term along the main drag of Billerica has been frustrating for parents, officials and Sal’s Pizza — which reopened on Dec. 18 at 328 Boston Road.

“We are disappointed with what’s facing our business,” said Eric Kuhnen, director of operations for Sal’s Pizza. “We feel bad for the town of Billerica.

That fence looks pretty high to me, and I’m not sure why exactly Mr. Lynch thought that anyone from Sal’s would have any interest in looking into his yard, which obviously isn’t against any laws in the first place.

Luckily cooler heads prevailed and two weeks later he agreed to cover up the word “douchebag.”

As part of the rebuild, Sal’s Pizza constructed a six-foot fence — a height within the conditions of the permit approved by the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. Lynch wanted a higher fence, so Sal’s Pizza agreed to an eight-foot fence of his choice. A week later, workers were installing the eight-foot fence, but Lynch “had a fit, throwing them off his property,” according to Mark LaLumiere, Billerica’s building commissioner. As a result, Sal’s Pizza proceeded with the six-foot fence.

Lupoli said he was out of the country when this dispute came up. He visited Lynch two days ago, as he promised he would in a conversation with a Sun editor, introduced himself and said, “I’m here to understand your concerns.”

“He asked me why I was there and not my contractors,” Lupoli recalled.

Lupoli said he responded, “Because I own the real estate, and owners should talk to each other.”

Lynch agreed, and they walked the site together.

So the business owner was willing to go out of his way to be flexible and let this guy dictate how high the fence had to be. They agreed to an 8 foot fence, Sal’s started building it, he flipped out and kicked them off his property, so they put a 6 foot fence instead and he complained that he wanted an 8 foot fence. Then after that they still agreed to sit down with the guy who owned the barn and try to reasonably come up with a way for him to stop hurting their business.

Most patient business owner ever.

Well, apparently the honeymoon is over, because not only is the douchebag sign back, Mr. Lynch has added some new words as well.

Well, that’s not good for business. Wait until Arty finds out about Yelp. Or Facebook. Or Google.

This guy clearly isn’t well.

But it doesn’t really matter either way. You act like this you deserve to be called out for it. He could get away with writing “douchebag” because technically that’s not profanity and he can argue that free speech protects that. Good luck with the latest addition though Arty.

From the looks of his Facebook page he seems to have horses, chickens and other livestock on his property under his care. If he’s not mentally well then he shouldn’t be caring for these animals. If he’s living with someone else then perhaps they should be stopping him from writing “suck my b***s where little children can see it. Just sayin.
