Boston City Councilor Tweets That She’s Grateful To Group Called “Fuck The Police Boston” Who She Will Be Meeting With To Discuss Defunding Police

Boston City Councilor Andrea Campbell was recently featured on TB Daily News for trying to ban the BPD from wearing helmets while supervising riots, because she thought it would not be sensitive to rioters and looters, who she assumed would be black.

She has been actively looking to defund the police in light of national calls for it, and posted this on Twitter on Monday.

FTP = Fuck the police.

A Boston city councillor is recognizing the legitimacy of an organization called “Fuck the police Boston” by meeting with them today to talk about defunding the police. They seem excited to have her.

She also wants school resource officers, who protect students and faculty, removed from Boston Public Schools.

Keep in mind that some public schools have upwards of 2,000 students on a daily basis. City Council meetings have far less people in attendance but people like her still have detailed police officers there to protect them. Does that mean she is “criminalizing” people who attend City Council meetings? Of course not. They’re there to protect lawmakers in case civilians become unruly. Apparently she believes that she should be protected from violence, but students and teachers are on their own.

The movement to remove cops from schools is nothing new. In Worcester in 2015 three vice principals and several students were injured in fights at North High School. Since no one in the building was trained in restraints, and teachers are fearful of breaking up fights with kids who are bigger and stronger than them, it led to chaos. There were also several incidents involving students with guns. Despite massive pushback from black lives matter, the City Council still voted to put resource officers in all secondary schools. The results were an overwhelming success, leading to lower suspension rates and incidents of violence. As it turns out kids are less likely to commit crimes when they know an officer is around the corner.

People like Andrea Campbell hate the police, but ironically are protected by them. The problem is they don’t want other people to be safe too.
