Throughout most of my coverage of the Karen Read case I’ve focused on exposing lies in the Commonwealth’s case against Read and evidence pointing to the McAlberts for being responsible for murdering John O’Keefe. What I haven’t done is spend much time thinking about how things would’ve gone down if Karen Read had killed John O’Keefe, because I wouldn’t waste time pursuing a hypothetical that is physically impossible according to the laws of science. But when you actually outline what Read would’ve had to have done if she had actually struck her boyfriend with her car the story becomes even more implausible. In fact, I would argue it’s an even stronger defense than trying to convince a jury that the McAlberts did it.
If Karen Read hit John O’Keefe with her car at 12:32, as the Commonwealth claims that she did, then that means that John was still in the car when Ryan Nagel, Heather Maxon, and Ricky D’antuono – all 3 of whom testified that Karen was alone in her vehicle with the interior lights on – left the house. If ANY of them had said that they saw John in the car with her it would mean that he didn’t go inside the house, and Karen Read would be cooked. According to the Commonwealth John HAD to have been in the car. Yet these 3 eye witnesses, one of whom would be implicating his sister if John wasn’t in the car, all insisted that John wasn’t in the car.
What amazing luck Karen Read had that NONE of them saw John in the car with her!
But this was just the beginning of Karen’s lucky streak if she killed John O’Keefe. Had she actually ran him over with her car then it would mean that ALL of the following people, ALL of whom the Commonwealth concedes were inside Brian Albert’s house at the time, didn’t see see OR HEAR this 220 pound man get struck by a 3 ton vehicle accelerating from 0 to 24 mph in the snow in just 62 feet:
- Brian Albert
- Nicole Albert
- Brian Albert Jr
- Caitlin Albert
- Brian Higgins
- Jennifer McCabe
- Matt McCabe
- Julie Nagel
- Sarah Levinson
For the sake of argument we will not argue that Colin Albert was inside the house (although we don’t concede that), but this would mean that those 9 people all saw and heard nothing. Two of these witnesses – Jennifer and Matt McCabe – testified that they looked outside multiple times while Read’s car was there.
What amazing luck Karen Read had that these people, who were constantly looking out the windows, didn’t see or hear her murder a man less than 50 feet from where they were standing.
Then there’s the fact that Jennifer and Matt McCabe both testified that after Karen’s car left they both looked outside, and Matt even saw v-shaped tire tracks in the snow because his vision is so good. Luckily for Karen Read neither one of them saw John’s 220 pound body which was lying directly in their field of vision as they stared out at Fairview Road.
The following 8 individuals all testified that they drove directly past where John’s body would have been if Karen Read had left him there to die at 12:32, AFTER Read fled the scene:
- Caitlin Albert
- Brian Higgins
- Jennifer McCabe
- Matt McCabe
- Julie Nagel
- Sarah Levinson
- Tristin Morris
- Lucky Loughran
What amazing luck for Karen Read that 7 people, who she is now implicating in a murder, didn’t see a body on the front lawn and alert police about it. If just ONE of these people had seen John’s body and alerted authorities they could’ve prevented themselves from being falsely accused by the dastardly Karen Read. She’d be cooked!
And let’s not forget about Julie Nagel, who testified that she saw a 5-6 foot black blob on the front lawn and told the other occupants – Jen McCabe, Matt McCabe, and Sarah Levinson – about what she had just seen. Luckily for Karen Read none of the 3 other occupants remembered hearing Julie Nagel say that out loud, and Julie didn’t think a 5-6 foot black blob lying in the snow was something to alert police about.
Then there’s Lucky Loughran. He’s been friendly with the McAlberts for years and is the only one who drove by who had nothing to gain or lose from his testimony. And although the 7 others all testified that they didn’t notice a body on the lawn, Loughran was UNEQUIVOCAL and when he INSISTED that he would have seen a body had a body been there. What amazing luck for the dastardly Karen Read that a man who prided himself in carefully scanning his surroundings while plowing high atop his plow called Frankentruck, with his bright head lights illuminating the world around him, didn’t see the body she had just left there.
Let’s also not forget that Lucky testified that he saw a Ford Edge at 3 AM parked in the exact spot where John’s body would be found 3 hours later. If Karen Read had struck John with her car 2.5 hours earlier then he would’ve been lying right there on the ground. Whoever was driving that Ford Edge would’ve been able to call the police and tell them he was lying there, thus implicating Read.
But in yet another stroke of magnificent luck Lt. Brian Tully and his team of crackpot investigators had ZERO INTEREST in tracking down whoever was driving that Ford Edge, despite the fact that they could give testimony that would put Read in jail, and despite the fact that several members of the Albert family owned a Ford Edge.
If Karen Read ran John O’Keefe over with her Lexus in a fit of rage she must’ve been worried sick not only that someone saw her do it, but that one of the neighbors may have had Ring camera video that picked it up. Directly across the street from where she murdered a Boston cop is the home of Canton Police Deputy Chief Tom Keleher, who just so happens to have a Ring camera that points directly at the area John was struck.
Ring cameras are notorious for picking up loud noises, so the screeching of the tires as she accelerated to 24.2 mph combined with the impact would’ve been undeniable video and audio proof that Read was guilty.
But Karen Read’s lucky streak continued because not only was Kelleher’s Ring camera not working that night, but Michael Proctor didn’t even ask him for it!
Another problem Karen Read had to overcome after murdering John O’Keefe would’ve been all the homes and businesses she drove by on her way to 1 Meadows Ave that had cameras pointing towards the street. There were dozens of homes with Ring cameras along that route, and the public library that had a surveillance video pointed directly at the intersection Read drove through. If ANY of these cameras picked up footage of her car with a broken tail light it would implicate her in John’s murder. And as we’ve seen from the rubber ducky investigation, the police will pull surveillance videos to find out who dropped miniature duckies, so they’d definitely do the same for a murder.
Well, Karen once again turned into the luckiest murderer in history because not only did State Police fail to ask a single home owner for their Ring camera videos, but the Canton Library video just stopped working for 2 minutes, which happened to be the exact time she drove by.
Then there’s the whole problem with science. If Karen Read hit John at 12:32 and he was found at 6 AM then he’d be dead from hypothermia. But somehow he was still alive when they found him, which made it look like he had only been out there for a short period of time. Karen Read literally found a way to get the laws of biology to stop existing right after she murdered her boyfriend. Amazing!
But wait – what about the 45 pieces of tail light Karen Read left behind? That would be solid evidence showing she ran John O’Keefe over with her car if the cops found any of it in the morning. Well, in yet another remarkable stroke of luck all 5 canton cops on scene couldn’t find one of these 45 pieces of tail light!
Why didn’t she go back to the scene of the crime and pick up the 45 tail light pieces? How did she know they would ALL be that blind?
After getting back to 1 Meadows Ave Karen Read had to be nervous. After all, she just murdered her boyfriend in front of a Boston Police Officer’s house. Luckily she had beaten the odds when no one saw or heard it, and all the Ring cameras stopped working! She was in a perfect position to frame the McAlberts for the crime she committed. The last thing she would want to do is make herself seem like an angry lover with a motive to kill. Naturally then Karen decided to leave a whole bunch of angry voicemails on John’s phone, because it was too easy to get away with her crime and she wanted the challenge of being charged with murder.
All Karen Read had to do at this point was just wait for someone else to find his body. Then she’d be alerted by police and she could stick to her story that she saw John go inside the house. After that it would be the McAlberts problem to deal with.
But Karen Read apparently likes a challenge, because instead of laying low she rounded up 2 witnesses and led them back to the scene of the crime. While driving by the 2 other women in the car didn’t see his body there, so naturally Karen Read had to point out where he was to further incriminate herself.
For 5.5 hours Read knew that she had to act surprised to see John’s body lying by the flagpole because her story was that John went inside the house. She’d have to accuse Jennifer McCabe right then and there, grilling her about how John got there, insisting that she saw John go inside the house, and accusing Jen of being the one who invited him over there.
“I saw him go inside, what the fuck happened to him Jen? Who did this to him Jen?”
Karen had to be unequivocal about this fact when she spoke with police and first responders. If she expressed ANY doubt about how John ended up on the lawn it would make her an easy target. The last thing Karen would want to yell at the scene of the crime was “I hit him,” because it would directly implicate her AFTER experiencing unprecedented good luck when no Ring camera videos were pulled and nobody saw or heard her kill her boyfriend.
Yet she did just that, because Karen Read likes a challenge. This murder so far had been too easy, and she’d experienced too much luck, so she had to even the playing field.
But what about John’s family and friends? They had to be convinced it wasn’t her. After all, if Peggy and Paul O’Keefe had her back it would be hard for the District Attorney’s Office to pin this on her. She would need to stay as close to them as possible and put it in their heads that she saw John go inside the house. She’d want to drop some hints that the McAlberts were the guilty ones so that she’d have his family on her side.
“Brian Higgins didn’t like John, he was always hitting on me and it got creepy. I hope he wouldn’t have done something to him, but he scares me!”
“Brian Albert was with us last week at the Hillside and made some comment about not liking John. He’s a trained fighter and an imposing figure. I told John I didn’t have a good feeling about going there, but he insisted on going there for the after party.”
“Jen McCabe was acting weird at the Waterfall Bar. She kept asking John if he was coming over afterwards and it got to the point where it was uncomfortable. Why did she want us to come over so badly? I don’t wanna think the worst of her, but it was really creepy.”
But Karen didn’t do anything like that. Instead she made suicidal statements, guaranteeing that she would be sectioned and Jen McCabe would be the one who got to plant the seeds with Peggy O’Keefe first. After she got out she made sure NOT to talk much with the family and pack up her shit and get out of there as quickly as possible, so as to make her suspicious.
Karen wasn’t arrested until 3 days later. During that time she had hired David Yannetti and if she did kill John O’Keefe she could’ve told him the McAlberts did it so they could start pursuing her third party culprit theory. When she was arraigned Yannetti could’ve presented this defense in court, accusing the McAlberts of murder on television in order to put a spotlight on them.
But again, Karen Read elected not to do this because she likes a challenge. Instead of pointing fingers at the McAlberts at her arraignment, Yannetti seemingly went along with the idea that this was a tragic accident. He waited until after the arraignment when Steve Scanlon came to his office to ever consider the possibility that John might’ve been inside Brian Albert’s house.
In order to believe that Karen Read killed John O’Keefe you must believe that Karen Read is the most diabolical, thrill seeking, luckiest, and dumbest murderer all at the same time. The more you think about it, the more ridiculous it sounds. When you attempt to come up with ways in which the McAlberts murdered John O’Keefe the pieces come together. But Karen Read’s jigsaw puzzle is missing a whole bunch of pieces.
There is only one side telling fairy tales, implausible stories, and wild conspiracy theories, and it’s not the defense.
I actually Lol’d at this and the monologue you did on the show! This is the perfect closing statement for the defense, entertaining and convincing as hell!
It’s so obvious she did it but grift on grifter
OK so tell us how she did it exactly!!!
Nobody saw or heard a thing, there was no tailight or evidence at the scene apart from a ‘cocktail’ glass that didn’t even match the glass on the bumper that managed to cling on even after she drove back to Johns, then over to Jen McCabes and back to Johns, then from Johns all the way to her parents house 40 miles away ….was then collected from there and had to go up a ramp onto the tow truck ….then off the tow truck into the Sally Port…..in a SNOW STORM WITH GUSTING WINDS if we are to believe Lally!!
Please explain why the glass didn’t match any other glass at the scene!!
Then explain how Johns blood was ON TOP of the Snow when everyone testified to there only being a light dusting at 00:30!!
Then explain how John ended up with BLOOD ON THE FRONT OF HIS JEANS ….AND VOMIT AND BLOOD IN HIS BOXER SHORTS!!
The ME said he would have been rendered immediatley unconscious after hitting his head!! So who moved him?? The laws of physics tell you gravity pulls the blood downwards!! So he had to have been standing up!!
Now explain his arm and why it wasn’t broken or even bruised after being hit by a 3 ton vehicle!!
Convince me!!
I won’t be holding my breath because I know damn well your only mantra is ….she did it!!
Save your breath, all they ever say is “she did it”! They never come back with plausible explanations for any of the questions you asked, or the many others you didn’t mention!
True!
Me saying you did it makes more sense than Karen being the culprit. I state that on your comment alone.
Please explain why you actually think she did it, I truly don’t understand how anyone could possibly think she is guilty.
My comment was directed at anti grifter.
Pro-tip if you ever have an over-nighter at fake victim household.
Piss in the dark so closet baby doesn’t wake-up thinking you it’s mom.
Brilliant take on this whole mess! Even better than your post a while back about the 50 things you’d have to believe for KR to be guilty!
Give us fuckin McDonough!!!!
Let’s keep reminding everyone that Sean McDonough AKA Sean on the Gulf AKA Going through the Motions is looking more and more like a big fraud.
He has decided to publicly harass people he doesn’t know and is making lots of false allegations. He has not once provided any information to his followers that has proven to be true other than announcing Enrique’s death hours before the media did. NEWS FLASH SEAN, many others with cop friends had that information too.
Shame on Sean. For anyone who has subscribed to his channel, paid for memberships, and/or on his Facebook Page, please consider unsubscribing to all of it. He’s no better than Plevin.
12:10 AM
Well done!
Love this!! Great article!!
The very bottom line is that she did not hit him. I have heard a person get hit by a car and a dog get hit by a car at similar speeds to what they say Karen was driving, trust me, the whole neighborhood hears it!! A horrible sudden loud shocking booming noise, you KNOW someone has been hit. Full stop.
