This is Tyriek Brown from Everett.
A year ago he was arrested in Springfield on gun and drug charges..
Springfield police spokesman Ryan Walsh said around 9:15 p.m. detectives observed drug activity, and a man, later identified as Tyriek Brown, adjusting what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband in the parking lot of 600 State Street and two cars then left the parking lot. Those in the car, 25-year-old Tyriek Brown of Everett and 24-year-old Jalen Felix of North Attleboro, were arrested. Both are charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug. Brown is facing additional charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a firearm on a public way, and receiving stolen property less than $1,200.
Prior to that he had received a suspended sentence of 2.5 years in the Worcester County House of Corrections for gun charges and driving without a license.
Yet despite this documented history of criminality Tyriek Brown remained free.
Then yesterday he murdered a married couple in Lowell who were out for a walk at 6:30 PM.
Masslive: A 26-year-old Everett man is facing charges after allegedly racing another car in Lowell, veering off the road and fatally striking two pedestrians, officials said. Tyriek Brown was driving a black Ford Mustang around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the westbound travel lane of Pawtucket Boulevard when the Mustang went off the road and struck the pedestrians, according to the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. The pedestrians have been identified as Jose Medina, 66, and Fernanda Medina, 62, of Lowell, Ryan’s office said in a statement Friday morning. Speed was a factor in the crash, the district attorney’s office said. Brown was arrested late Thursday night and has been charged with motor vehicle homicide and manslaughter. He will be arraigned telephonically in Lowell District Court on Friday and is being held pending that arraignment, Ryan’s office said. Brown was also taken to the hospital. He had injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the district attorney’s office. The other car allegedly racing with Brown drove off following the crash, the statement said. Investigators want to speak with that driver.
Two pedestrians are dead and the driver that hit them was also taken to Lowell General Hospital after a Ford Mustang went out of control on Pawtucket Boulevard in Lowell near the Tyngsboro town line on Thursday evening.

I really hate anyone who drag races with a passion. What’s the point? Oh look, you can make your Mustang go faster than some other moron in a flat brimmed hat in his Mustang by hitting the gas pedal. Cool. You must have a huge penis or something. Congratulations.
If you want to be a loser and spend your free time experimenting with how fast your car can go, then do it in the middle of nowhere. Instead he chose to do this in one of the most densely populated cities in Massachusetts, and now two completely innocent people living out their golden years together are dead because of the selfish actions of a career criminal.
Whoever the judge is that let him off the hook on the gun charges last year now has blood on their hands. Our judicial system failed to do the job it exists to do, and as a result Jose and Fernanda Medina had to lose their lives for the crime of going for a walk on a nice spring day.
