Facebook Being Down All Day Exposed How Dependent The World Is On Unelected Tech Companies

Facebook has been down since 11:30 AM EST today (5 hours and counting), so I’m unable to communicate with lots of turtle riders about stories I was working on. I get hundreds of messages on our Facebook accounts every day, and Facebook is BY FAR our biggest driver of weekly traffic to the website.

As you can imagine traffic is a little show today, so I’d personally recommend not being so dependent on tech companies to decide what you read on a daily basis. Bookmark TBDailyNews.com on your phone or computer and make a habit of going directly to the site instead. You can mock Facebook as a thing for old people, but the fact of the matter is that no other platform comes close when you’re trying to share content with a large audience. It’s still the most trafficked social media site in the world by a lot, and we’ve become dependent on it for communication.

I could rant and rant about the problems with unelected tech companies having this sort of control, but you’ve heard me do that for years so I won’t bore you anymore. For now I just wanted to take this opportunity to remind turtle riders that you should follow me on Twitter @DoctorTurtleboy and @TurtleboyPhone. My DM’s are always open, and I actually prefer it to Facebook. The problem is that although 23.3K turtle riders follow our fan run @TurtleboyTweets account, I only have 8.8K and 3.7K on the other accounts. For whatever reason the word isn’t getting out that they finally let me back on there after I bought a new computer last year and they stopped tracking my device. You can also email me at [email protected] with story ideas.

Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help.
