Encore Casino in Everett opened this week and a turtle rider noticed a local mayor there who’s been in the news a lot lately playing $50 minimum blackjack.
That would be Fall River’s Jasiel Correia, who was arrested in October 2018 by the FBI and charged with wire fraud and filing false tax returns because he stole over $230,000 from investors for a bogus app, then spent it all on strippers, suits, and other luxury items.
He can be seen in those pictures with his girlfriend Jenny Fernndes, who evidently doesn’t seem to mind that months ago he accidentally posted a screenshot showing that he’s active on Tinder.
At least he knows she’ll stick around when he eventually goes to prison. It’s amazing what some women will put up with when their boyfriend can buy them nice things.
This is a big deal because the Mayor of Fall River somehow makes $120,000 a year, despite being a mid sized city with just 85,000 residents. When he campaigned for office in 2016 he promised that he’d cut his salary by 25% in order to buy the city a new police car. However, that only lasted a year before he went right back to the $120K salary and the city never ended up getting the police car. Even though it was the first weekend the casino was in business I’m sure there were tables where you could find lower minimums than $50. But he goes to the $50 tables because this is just who he is – a narcissistic con-artist who spends taxpayer money lavishly and does it publicly because he knows his voting base is full of naive and gullible people who vote strictly along ethnic lines.
