Hingham Police Charge Two Teens Identified By TB Daily News After Stealing And Defacing Thin Blue Line Flag From Private Residence

The Hingham police are charing the two miscreants we blogged about on Friday who ripped a Michael Chesna memorial sticker off a car, stole a thin blue line flag from a private residence, smashed it and urinated on it, and uploaded videos of it to social media.

The Hingham Police were kind enough not to name and shame Liam Keliher and Devan Kushnir, but I won’t be. These two went to the HPD on Friday and attempted to get a harassment order against me, which tells me that they don’t think they did anything wrong, and consequently this should come up when people Google their name so they can learn their lesson effectively.

They actually did that.

“Hi, I hate police, want them defunded, and filmed myself committing a crime which I then uploaded on video to social media. TB wrote about it, identified me, and called me out on my criminal behavior. Please arrest him.”

At least Devan will have his acting career to fall back on.

Both of these two deserve to be kicked out of college for this. They’re guilty, they think they did nothing wrong, and they need a wakeup call.

But as much as I blame them I blame the Town of Hingham more for creating a culture in which the police, and the thin blue line flag in particular, are treated as the enemy. No town in this state has created a culture that vilifies police more than Hingham. Not Cambridge, Somerville, or Northampton, although those are close. Hingham forced their fire department to take down a thin blue line flag from a fire truck and several residents accused the HPD of harboring white supremacists during a board of selectmen meeting, and none of them were corrected. Ironically it’s one of the whitest towns in the state, and one of the wealthiest. The homes and property of the residents there are protected by the police. Without the police they’d be Brockton by the Sea.

These two criminals were just doing what they thought the adults in town would approve of. Shame on everyone who manipulated these teenagers. Perhaps a year of working instead of the fantasy world known as college will give them time to reflect on what they’ve done.
