There was an incident of hate on the Mass Pike in Newton today, but luckily a brave man was there to save morning commuters from the horror of what they were about to witness.
WHDH: An outraged man traveling on the Mass. Pike stopped his car Friday morning to rip down a sign hanging from a highway overpass in Newton that read “It’s OK to be white.” Thousands of commuters on the busy highway got a glimpse of the large white banner that featured bold black lettering, prompting a response from the Anti-Defamation League of New England.
“It’s pretty disappointing to see people in Massachusetts using a platform like that to disseminate a message that excludes people and targets people,” said Robert Trestan, Executive Director of the ADL’s Boston office.
Sean Roche, who was driving with his daughter, got out of his car and tore the sign down before police arrived at the scene. “It’s a statement that being white is under attack right now and it’s just not true,” Roche told 7NEWS. “Being white is such an advantage in this society. To suggest otherwise is just straight-up racism.”
Trestan says the “It’s OK to be white” campaign was launched two years ago and that it’s a matter that must be addressed. “It’s important for people not to be persuaded or attracted to a message like this because behind the words is bigotry, behind the words is hate,” Trestan said.
This sign was hung over the Pike eastbound in Newton.

As a cisgendered straight white male I can tell you from experience that is NOT OK to be white. Being born white is a form of hate speech and violence that can never be undone. You’ll always be a bad person, but you can minimize the damage you cause by constantly checking the white privilege of others and treating black people like novelties. If you play your hands right a person of color might see you calling out your own privilege and identify you as one of the “good ones.” That’s what our protagonist Steve Roche did today with his bold, transformative action against hate speech.
He will a woke a bitch if they think it’s OK to be white.
You know he’s real deal because he lists his pronouns in his Twitter bio.
Thank you sir, for announcing that not only do you have male sexual reproductive organs, you also recognize that those organs are the things that defines your gender. So stunning. So brave.
When James K. Woke isn’t taking down dangerous signs that encourage white people to not hate themselves, he can be seen driving around the Newton area taking pictures of people idling in non-handicapped spots.
Driving with “obscured” license plates.
And tagging the police on Twitter, like the distinguished cisgendered man of honor he is.
Mr. Roche also runs a Newton politics forum, which is basically a virtue signaling circlejerk for people who feel bad about being rich and white, while choosing to live in a city where the closest thing resembling diversity are the Indian computer programmers.
Suggesting it’s OK to be white might be the most hateful thing I’ve ever heard. No one is safe as long as white people are comfortable in their own skin.
He also happens to be an attorney for State Senator Harriette Chandler.
Don’t tell Stevey that she parks in handicapped spots all the time, despite not having a placard.
Stories like this make me want to live in Newton. Sure, it’s an overly expensive traffic pit where you have to dodge bikers like Steve Roche in January because they want to pretend that they’re fixing global warming. But at the same time, at least residents there can sleep safe at night knowing that no one in town saw the sign that suggested it was OK to be white.
