Brian Riccio is an Internet troll from Revere, unworthy of any serious person’s attention. His brother is a wealthy Apple executive, but Brian brings nothing but shame to the family as he lives life as a perpetually unemployed single man who will die alone and unloved. He spends his days attempting to get under the skin of productive members of society, and is a well-known bigot who showed up to harass Rayla Campbell and I in Roxbury last September (with broken sunglasses and 2 masks) as we demonstrated against Monica Cannon-Grant’s systemic racism.
Brian champions himself as a “progressive,” but he really doesn’t like the gays, and freely tosses around homophobic slurs while justifying it with the “I have gay friends” trope.
He’s also a big fan of the n word.
Brian’s stated goal is to get Turtleboy deplatformed in every way possible so that we can no longer make a living doing this. But just like everything in life he has done so far, this has ended in failure. All TB Daily News has done over the last 7 years is grow despite unprecedented tech censorship. Riccio has widely celebrated the fact that I’m banned from PayPal, despite the fact that I now use a different payment processing company that charges a lower transaction fee. Everything he does just helps TB, yet he keeps trying anyway. Please, never stop, sir.
Brian also can’t stop reading TB Daily News because even our biggest haters are addicted to the content. He saw a banner ad from Salem Five on the blog about the Mansfield Antifa teacher.
Those ads are from our third party ad network, who acts as the medium between companies looking to advertise and publishers. Companies don’t want to deal directly with publishers, they just want to pay money to be seen by X amount of people for Y amount of dollars. That’s how marketing works. No rational person believes that companies are endorsing a show or website by advertising on them. They just want people to do business with them, so logically they go to the places with the most eye balls.
On a larger scale, organizations like Sleeping Giants and Media Matters have dedicated their existence to harassing advertisers that appear on Tucker Carlson and Breitbart. But they have failed as Tucker continues to be the most watched show on cable television, and his advertisers likely rake in millions of dollars in profits due to their ads. Poorly run, cowardly companies who don’t understand how business works may cave to these trolls, but smart business owners understand that these shows are popular for a reason – because people agree with them. They realize that Twitter is not real life, and the outrage expressed towards them on that platform is not indicative of their customer base.
Riccio saw the Salem Five ad on TB Daily News and decided to harass Salem Five on Twitter about where they’re spending their ad dollars. Instead of dismissing him for being a well known racist and homophobe, Salem Five took the bait.
The only conclusion I can draw from this is that Salem Five bank is a bigoted bank. Feel free to ask them on Facebook why they are doing the bidding of a white supremacist skinhead like Brian Riccio. Maybe it’s just some woke intern who thinks that he must take faux outrage from trolls seriously, but maybe it’s institutional and they support Brian Riccio. You can also respond directly to their tweet and ask them on there.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will investigate how this occurred immediately and remedy the situation.

Cancel culture has to work both ways. As long as the bad guys use it as a weapon we have no choice but to do the same. If you have an account with Salem Five then cancel it, but more importantly let them know you’re doing that on social media. These companies think there are no consequences to choosing sides in the culture war because they’re used to only hearing from one side. They need to be punished in order to deter this sort of cowardly behavior moving forward. Only then can we finally agree that cancel culture must go.
In the meantime I graciously accept the money Salem Five gave to the ad network, which was funneled to Turtleboy, but I won’t recommend you do business with them at all. Not until they address their ties to white supremacy.
Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help. Please consider donating by hitting the PayPal button above if you’d like support free speech and what we do in the face of Silicon Valley censorship.
