Update: Wachusett Country Club Delays Opening Early In Defiance Of Lockdown After Lt. Governor Polito Agrees To Meet With Owner
Update of the update: The WCC update in this blog was apparently from last week, and has not been removed. They are still planning on opening this weekend.
Earlier today I published a blog about Cara Cullen, the owner of Wachusett Country Club, who vowed to open up her golf course in defiance of Governor Baker’s lockdown. owner defying the lockdown and opening up golfing this week. However, since then this announcement was brought to our attention.
It would appear at first glance as if Cara Cullen gave in.
It would also appear to many as if she used Fox News, TB Daily News, and the rest of the media to make herself a champion for freedom, and in turn got free advertising out of it.
But since the “update” wasn’t really an update, and was just something they hadn’t taken down on their website, there really isn’t any update here at all.
However, I’m willing to see how this plays out. One of two things will happen here:
- Karyn Polito agrees to let golf courses across the state open shortly after the meeting.
- Karyn Polito tells her to “wait and see,” gives her vague promises about when she can reopen, and Cullen accepts this.
I have faith that it’s #1, and if she can harness the power of the media into shaming the Lt. Governor into seeing the ridiculousness of Baker’s lockdown policies and it gets them to take steps to open up the economy, then it will be the most ingenious play of all time. This woman friend requested all of the TB Facebook accounts. I trust and believe that she knows what she’s doing.
