Wilmington Superintendent Threatens Teachers With Defamation Lawsuits For Discussing Middle School Teacher On Leave For Inappropriate Behavior Towards Children

This is Wilmington Public Schools Superintendent Glenn Brand.

Last week an older teacher at the school named Michael Mahoney was placed on leave after multiple students alleged inappropriate behavior, including a 6th grader who was allegedly told that her thighs looked good. Bootleg Johnny Sins here sent out an email to all Wilmington Middle School teachers threatening them with deformation lawsuits if they spoke about it publicly.

“It has come to my attention that there are conversations in and out of school regarding these allegations.”

Oh no, not conversations! Only conversations pre-approved by the superintendent can take place between free people living in a free society!

“refrain from discussing this situation or those involved, keeping in mind that comments of any form, including on social media, could be considered defamatory in nature.”

Sorry Glenn, but that’s not the way free speech works. You placed this teacher on leave over student allegations of inappropriate behavior. People have the right in a free country to speculate about that and discuss. It’s literally how the #MeToo movement started. What he’s attempting to do is to silence free speech and silence whistle blowers in order to protect the image of his schools. Typical public school administrator, always in damage control mode, and always on a power trip.
