Hank Brennan filed an updated notice regard Trooper Michael Proctor’s status with the court today, reporting for the first time that Proctor will have a trial board hearing on January 15 that will decide his fate.

The fact that a hearing is scheduled to take place where Proctor will be present is proof that he has not yet been fired. In November erroneous reports from former boomer DEA agent Sean McDonough on Twitter claimed that Proctor had been terminated. The State Police denied this, but McDonough insisted that his unidentified sources in the State Police were more reliable. McDonough lashed out at WBZ reporter Kristina Rex (who he referred to as “a bitch”), and other YouTube content creators who refused to go along with his lie about Proctor being fired.

Proctor may well be terminated on January 15, and certainly should be. But although he is currently suspended without pay, there is no doubt that he is currently still employed by the MSP.

The unfortunate part about this is that Proctor will likely be terminated only because of his offensive text messages about Karen Read, which degraded her sexually, made fun of her medical conditions, and expressed a desire that she commit suicide.

Although all of these things are horrible, what he did to cover up the murder of John O’Keefe by framing Read was much more damaging. Proctor’s disgusting messages to his friends and coworkers did not harm anyone, and would not even be known to have occurred without an FBI investigation into his conduct. But his conduct as lead investigator in the O’Keefe investigation is the reason that a Boston Police Officer’s killers have thus far gotten away with murder. Proctor’s misconduct as it relates to the O’Keefe investigation includes the following:

• Failing to disclose that his family considered the Alberts a “second family”
• Failing to search Brian Albert’s house after a dead body was found on the front lawn
• Asking for Julie Albert to send a gift to be sent to his wife on the day Karen Read was charged with manslaughter
• Intentionally not interviewing several witnesses who were at the scene of a murder, including Caitlin Albert, Brian Albert Jr, Sarah Levinson, Julie Nagel, Colin Albert, Tristin Morris, and Brian Loughran
• Failing to ask to look at Ring camera footage from the neighbors or any other Canton residents
• Lying about what time he towed Karen Read’s car from Dighton
• Being caught on video hovering around Karen Read’s broken tail light in the Canton Police sally port garage
• Intentionally spelling the names of 5 witnesses incorrectly in a report
• Allowing witness Jennifer McCabe to have a social visit at his house on September 25, 2023
• Pressuring the medical examiner to rule O’Keefe’s death a homicide

It’s unknown if Brennan will call Proctor as a witness in Read’s second murder trial in April if he is terminated on January 15. However, this can only strengthen her defense as his termination would come as a direct result of his behavior in regards to her specifically. It’s unheard of for the lead investigator in a murder not to testify in a murder trial, and Brennan knows that this will be a nearly impossible hurdle for him to overcome.
