This morning news broke that Michael Proctor has officially been fired by the Massachusetts State Police.

We knew this was going to happen eventually, but the fact that it happened right before the start of Karen Read’s trial is a huge blessing. How are they going to convict a woman of murder when the lead detective has been fired as a result of his comments and messages involving the Karen Read case? Good luck Spanky!
This was obviously a long time coming, and long overdue. He deserves much worse than this, and it’s a shame that the only thing that got him fired were his unprofessional, disgusting, derogatory text messages. The fact that he lied about his relationship with the McAlberts, lied about what time he towed Karen Read’s car so that he could make it look impossible that he planted tail light, intentionally misspelled the names of 5 witnesses in a single report, asked that a bribe offered to him be given to his wife instead, and manipulated the medical examiner into giving him the cause of death he wanted, should’ve been grounds for firing. But it was mostly the text messages that the feds found. He was ultimately fire for 4 reasons:
- The texts about a homicide suspect were inappropriate.
- He shared confidential information about a homicide investigation with random friends (Brian Albert won’t catch any shit because he’s Boston Police).
- The texts created the appearance of bias towards a homicide suspect.
- He drank beers with Kevin Albert while on duty and drove his State Police issued vehicle.

Proctor should be thanking his lucky stars he’s not in jail. If I were him, I’d be spilling the beans on everyone starting now. Why should he be the only one to go down with the ship? His family isn’t gonna be able to put food on the table, but all his corrupt pals at MSP will. Are they gonna keep inviting the Proctors to barbecues? Is he gonna get the invitation to fantasy football next year? Or are they all gonna start doing the slow fade because they don’t no longer work with him and don’t wanna associate with someone who will make them all look bad?
Michael Proctor didn’t frame Karen Read on his own, but he’s going to fall alone. At some point he’s just gonna stop caring and start talking. The only problem is, he can’t ever admit that the investigation was a coverup, so implicating his comrades will be implicating himself for something he has effectively gotten away with.
If I were a member of the Proctor family I would stay far, far away from the media. But because he is surrounded by some of the most tone deaf women walking the face of the earth, the “family” of Michael Proctor released this ridiculous statement instead:
“We are truly disappointed with the trial board’s decision as it lacks precedent, and unfairly exploits and scapegoats one of their own, a trooper with a 12-year unblemished record. Despite the Massachusetts State Police’s dubious and relentless efforts to find more inculpatory evidence against Michael Proctor on his phones, computers and cruiser data, the messages on his personal phone – referring to the person who killed a fellow beloved Boston Police Officer – are all that they found. The messages prove one thing, and that Michael is human – not corrupt, not incompetent in his role as a homicide detective, and certainly not unfit to continue to be a Massachusetts State Trooper.
The text messages prove that he is guilty of violating four State Police standards. Sure, he’s human. But when human beings violate rules at their workplace they get fired for it. Being fired is also a sign that you are human.
It goes without saying that Michael Proctor is corrupt. An honest police officer wouldn’t lie in a police report about towing a car at 5:30, when he knew the car was towed at 4:15. An honest police officer wouldn’t hide the fact that he had been offered a thank you gift by a witness, after failing to interview that witness’ son, who he failed to disclose that he had known for 20 years. An honest police officer would’ve immediately reported this offer of a gift to his superiors, rather than telling the witness to give the bribe to his wife instead.
This is the definition of corruption.
The statement continued:
Proctor and his detectives led a meticulous and thorough investigation of integrity, and despite today’s wrongful termination, and great harm and defamation this case has inflicted on him and his family, Proctor still believes justice will be served. He is grateful for the unrelenting support of the union and the men and women of the Massachusetts State Police. His heart is always with the family of Officer John O’Keefe who continue to endure a prolonged and unimaginable nightmare.”
A thorough investigation? I interviewed the plow driver before anyone in the State Police did, and I didn’t take an interest in this story until 15 months after John O’Keefe was killed. They might’ve interviewed the plow driver, but Proctor lied in his report when he said that DPW Director Michael Trotta told him that the town didn’t plow Fairview Road, so they didn’t bother. When he found out that a Ford Edge was seen parked next to where John O’Keefe’s body was found 3 hours later, a homicide that they believed was the result of being hit by a car, they did nothing to investigate who the driver of that Ford Edge was. When he towed Karen Read’s car from her Dad’s house he didn’t take a picture of the taillight while it was there. He didn’t interview Brian Albert Jr, Caitlin Albert, Sarah Levinson, Julie Nagel, or Colin Albert, who were all present in Brian Albert’s house in or around the time they believe John O’Keefe was killed.

But yea, besides that the investigation was very thorough.
The Proctor family is right about one thing though – the O’Keefe family has endured a prolonged and unimaginable nightmare. They will never have justice for the loss of their son, largely because of the shoddy investigation done by Michael Proctor. Even those who claim to believe Karen Read is guilty have to concede that fact.
