Auntie Bev ended court an hour early in the Karen Read retrial on Wednesday, claiming that they were “ahead of schedule” for the week. Keep in mind, they got a grand total of 3 witnesses in for the entire week, which was usual was filled with lengthy side bars, 45 minute 15 minute breaks, 75 minute 40 minute lunches, and an hour of jurors being grilled behind closed doors one by one. If they were truly ahead of schedule then the schedule has really low expectations.
But perhaps the real reason she wanted to leave early on Wednesday was because she had to get to the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood, where she would be receiving the Person of the Year award from the Bar Association of Norfolk County.

A lot of people are outraged and shocked about this, but not me. A couple weeks ago I did a rant on one of my shows when someone asked me to share a Change.org petition to remove Beverly Cannone from her position as Judge of the Karen Read case. These people don’t understand how the Hackerama works. Allow me to explain:
- Mediocre hack like Beverly Cannone gets nominated to be a Judge by hack politician Deval Patrick
- 8 elected hacks on the Governor’s council, hand picked by the Democratic party, unanimously approve Governor Patrick’s nomination, giving Auntie Bev a seat for life
- Auntie Bev knows that removing her as a Judge would require a 2/3 vote of the State House of Representatives, and a conviction in the State Senate, which has a 0.0% chance of happening since the State Legislature is also filled with government hacks who don’t give a shit about the Karen Read case
- When regular people like us get fired up about a Judge being corrupt it makes everyone else in the Hackerama want to defend her more, which is why other Judges all stand behind her
That’s why someone as absurd and objectively horrible as Beverly Cannone is being honored as Person of the Year – they are trolling us. The Hackerama is letting us know that we don’t get to decide which judges are good and bad – they do.
The Bar Association of Norfolk County is the epitome of the Hackerama. It’s filled with lawyers who pay to be in a club so they can get referrals, and they all know that eventually they could end up having to practice in front of her. Judges are human, and thus they reward their supporters in the Hackerama. A quick glance at the Bar Association of Norfolk County’s website shows us that the President is Sabrina Bonanno.

She gives money frequently to hack politicians in the Hackerama, including Michael Morrissey and Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott.

Attorney Bonanno does criminal defense, so why would she give money to the DA, whose interests are adverse to her clients? Simple – she’s from Quincy, and she knows that Morrissey controls Norfolk County. If she gives enough money and supports the right judges she’ll get concessions from him.
President-Elect Michael Walsh, who previously ran for Norfolk County Register of Probate and was an elected official in Westwood, is also a big contributor to Morrissey.

He’s actually on the Support Staff for the DA, and gets paid by them as well.

Vice President Morgan Gray knows who butters his bread as well.

As does Secretary Michael Barbadoro, who hasn’t risen as high in the Bar Association because he only donated once 15 years ago.

Everyone in Norfolk County with power knows they have to give money to Morrissey, who hasn’t had an election challenger since the beginning of time, and is sitting on a war chest of over half a million dollars in case someone runs against him in 2026. That’s why loyal subjects like John Connolly, IT Director Colleen Crawford, and Trooper Kathleen Prince (who interviewed Jennifer McCabe) have ponied up SINCE the Karen Read case began.

This is how it works in Norfolk County – Michael Morrissey is the King Pin. Everyone has to pay up, including his underlings and attorneys he may be going up against. Judges like Auntie Bev dare not cross him, because if they do then they won’t get invited to dinners at hotels in Norwood and get cool awards that they can put inside their Cape Cod summer homes.
