Canton Coverup Part 539: Alan Jackson Demands Commissioner Cox Be Put On Brady List After Public Records Request Reveals He Lied About Meeting With Kelly Dever

On July 11 we published an article entitled – “Who’s Lying – Commissioner Cox Or Kelly Dever?”, in regards to public statements made by Commissioner Cox that he never met with Dever and spoke to her about her testimony prior to the Karen Read murder trial.

We now know that the person who was lying was Commissioner Cox, and now Alan Jackson wants him put on the Brady list.

Thanks to a successful lawsuit filed by North Carolina Attorney Corri Hopkins after her public records request was denied, we now can read a previously undisclosed email from FBI Special Agent Stephen Kelleher to Commissioner on February 22, 2024, in which Kelleher tells Cox about the release of TUOHY documents to the DA’s Office, and references a prior conversation in which they spoke about Kelly Dever.

Commissioner Cox undeniably lied when he stated on July 10, 2025:

“I have nothing to do with it. I have nothing to do with Karen Read. Matter fact, I didn’t even know this person (Dever) was associated with the Karen Read case. I have no idea what they’re talking about with Karen Read. It had nothing to do with Karen Read. No discussion about…I didn’t know she was even associated with that case. So, I don’t know. I was like, what do I have to do with the Karen Read case? I’ve never said those words together.”

Not only did he know full well about Dever’s involvement as a witness in the Read case, he also had a meeting with Dever the day after receiving this email from agent Kelleher, according to his official calendar. This prompted Alan Jackson to release this letter yesterday to Mayor Michelle Wu and POST Executive Director Enrique Zuniga, demanding a full POST disciplinary review and inclusion on the Brady List.

It’s undeniable that Commissioner Cox DID know that Dever was involved in the Read case. We all knew he was lying about it anyway, since there’s not possible way that he randomly invited a rookie cop up to his officer for a pep talk, which is what he claims the meeting was about. Dever testified that the meeting was about her testimony, and that she was urged by him to “do the right thing.”

The documents that Agent Kelleher informed Commissioner Cox about contained an interview with Dever by FBI agents, in which she said that she saw Brian Higgins and Ken Berkowitz alone with Read’s vehicle on January 29, 2022, for a wildly long period of time. After being alerted of this Cox set up a meeting the next day with Dever, and suddenly after that she realized she had a “false memory” and couldn’t have seen what she previously told the FBI agents she saw.

It is now more clear than ever why Dever quit her job, as was first report by Turtleboy Daily News – the job didn’t have her back. She lied for them. She committed perjury for them. She followed orders and did as she was told. She protected the blue wall of silence. She didn’t rat on her fellow officers. And in return the Commissioner thew her under the bus and denied ever speaking with her about any of that. Her reputation was destroyed, and he got to remain on as commissioner.

I’d quit too.

The bigger issue isn’t just that Cox is a liar who has no business being in law enforcement. The bigger problem is that the Read defense team was not given acccess to this email prior to the first or second trial. This information could’ve been used to call Commissioner Cox as a witness, and cross examine him about what he told Officer Dever. Luckily it didn’t matter in the second trial, but in the first trial the defense didn’t call Dever because her story had changed after speaking with Cox. Would that have made a difference? Maybe, maybe not. But Karen Read, like all defendants, was entitled to this email under Rule 14, and the only reason she’s seeing it now is because a random attorney from North Carolina refused to take no for an answer.
