Canton Coverup Part 543: Top 10 Takeaways From Karen Read Jury Foreman Interview

 

Boston Magazine published an interview this week with Charlie Deloach, the jury foreman who said the words “not guilty” 3 times on June 18, 2025, and it gave us some insight into the jury deliberations that no one has heard before.

1. Seeing Karen Read’s taillight light up when it was put on the tow truck at her parents’ house at 4:15 PM made him say “are we serious?”

This, more than Michael Proctor’s text messages, proved that he was a corrupt cop who helped orchestrate a coverup to frame Karen Read for John O’Keefe’s murder. As Charlie said, that exact piece was supposedly found by investigators buried under 2 feet of snow at Brian Albert’s house. There is no explanation for why it would have lit up in that video.

 

2. He was tempted to go on the Internet during the trial but didn’t. However, after the trial he began researching and was surprised by what he found.

This guy 1000% believes that John O’Keefe was murdered inside Brian Albert’s house. During the trial he believed that there was no evidence John O’Keefe was hit by a car, so he voted to acquit her. This shows what a brilliant strategy it was in the second trial to focus less on the conspiracy and more on the fact that there was nothing in evidence proving Karen Read hit John O’Keefe with her car.

 

3. He watched the first trial after the second trial was over and “could see how the prosecution did not want us to see certain witnesses.”

Imagine not hearing or seeing any of these people after 31 days of testimony, and then watching their testimony after the trial was over:

Especially Joseph Paul. He’s like a less confident autistic non-smurf version of Jud Welcher. He said he could understand why Hank Brennan would not want the jury to see these witnesses because he realized how bad they were.  But at the same time, calling all of them forced the defense to focus on the conspiracy, which didn’t resonate with the jury in the first trial and made it harder to believe that someone besides Karen Read killed John O’Keefe. Either way, the fact that they hid these people had to further validate to the jury that Hank Brennan was a shady guy who tried to hide information from them.

 

4. He wasn’t impressed with Jud Welcher or Shanon Burgess because none of them could explain how Karen Read hit John O’Keefe with her car, and none of John’s injuries aligned with a motor vehicle collision.

“Come on” really says it all. It was absurd and ridiculous, and this jury was thinking what 90% of people who were watching the trial were thinking – give me a f***ing break.

 

5. He didn’t factor Michael Proctor’s texts into his decision.

Rightfully so. The Proctor texts show what a douchebag he is, but they don’t show that he framed Karen Read for murder. His police report lying about what time Karen Read’s car was towed, the Sallyport video, the lack of taillight at 7 AM, Proctor’s close relationship with the Albert family, and the fact that the biggest piece of taillight wasn’t found until February 18, all prove that Karen Read was framed for murder more than his texts.

 

6. The jury believed someone else killed John O’Keefe but they didn’t waste much time debating who killed him.

This once again proves what an effective strategy “there was no collision” was in trial 2. In the first trial the defense really tried to convince the jury that Brian Albert, Colin Albert, and Brian Higgins beat up John O’Keefe and left him to die in the cold. The problem was that this was difficult for the jury to accept. The solution was to do just as many suggested they should between the two trials – remind the jurors that they were only there to determine if there was enough evidence to prove Karen Read killed John O’Keefe with her car. Clearly there wasn’t.

 

7. He found out who I was 2 weeks before the end of trial but didn’t realize the impact I had until after the trial was over because he didn’t research me during the trial.

This means he had no idea who the “blogger” was that Hank Brennan tried to get them to believe had intimidated Lucky Loughran. But at the same time he seems to recognize that I did indeed have an impact on this case.

 

8. He says the shadiest thing the McAlberts did was sell their house and get rid of their dog.

To me, getting rid of the dog is shadier than selling the house, but they’re both shady. Who gets rid of a 7 year old family dog? Makes no sense. The butt dials and butt answers during sex is also extremely shady, as is getting rid of your cell phone at an army base, “upgrading” your phone the day after a preservation order, having cuts on your knuckles that came from falling on the ice, and offering a gift to the lead investigator for not investigating your son. But the jury never found out about any of those things because Hank Brennan never called any of the McAlberts except Jennifer McCabe.

 

9. He voted not guilty because there was no evidence of a collision.

Once again proving what a smart and simple defense this was in trial 2.

 

10. The trial affected his life in that he now realizes how easy it is to charge someone with murder.

All it takes is some people who love and want to protect each other, who are committed to telling the same simple story, and some cops who are willing to look the other way. Most of the witnesses for the prosecution just testified truthfully about what they saw and did. The criminalists organized the evidence that was given to them by police. The SERT team looked for taillight, but it wasn’t found until 3 unknown men showed up that taillight was actually found. These were the people who whose testimony was supposed to make Karen Read look guilty, and none them were in on any conspiracy. The people who framed Karen Read were the people who gave them this evidence and lied about where they found it.
