Local Women Start Shady GoFundMe For Woman They’ve Never Met Or Spoken To Who Filmed Springfield Kidnapping Suspect
It was only a matter of time until someone tried to capitalize off of the viral story about the Springfield woman who chased down and reported 24 year old kidnapping suspect Miguel Rodriguez after his blue Honda Civic was seen near the Mass Pike last night.
According to Amanda Disley, the woman who not only called 911 when she saw Miguel Rodriguez’ blue Honda Civic in Springfield, but recorded herself and her husband pursuing the vehicle, this GoFundMe is a fake.
The GFM was created by someone using the name Jana Cottle, who is a Springfield woman in her 50’s.
A woman named Janell Martin shared the GFM at almost the exact same time it was created, which aroused suspicion for many.
Janell had the complete ratchet resume. CNA.
Tittooes
Pyramid schemes.
Refers to herself as a “Mama Bear.”
Once saved France from ISIS using a Facebook filter.
Upon further inspection it appears as if this young woman is somehow friends with the much older Jana Cottle, and they made it together.
She claims that she’s messaged Amanda, but Amanda says she has nothing to do with this GFM. Hard to tell if these two are scam artists, or if we just have a bad case of Grandma touched the Internet machine.
Janell never got back to us, but thanks to the power of Bristol we were able to figure out Jana Cottle’s user name on Facebook, and she admitted that she did indeed create the fundraiser.
As you can see here, we seem to have a case of “reasons why you should take the Interwebz away from old people.” Because they f*** around and end up on Turtleboy. Someone should probably tell Jana and Janell that it’s inappropriate and shady to created a GFM for someone you’ve never met, never even spoken to, and then collect hundreds of dollars in the immediate hours of the event. Even if their intentions weren’t nefarious (which I’m not convinced of), they made it seem like they knew this woman personally. They clearly don’t and Amanda doesn’t want her charity.
