Boomer Private Investigator Hired By Kylee Monteiro’s Family Threatens To Dox Me If I Don’t Give Into His Demands For Publishing Public Court Document

Yesterday I published an article about the arrest of Gregory Groom for murdering his pregnant girlfriend Kylee Monteiro, who had been missing for 2 weeks.

In the story I embeded a PDF of the police report and statement of facts, which I obtained from my couch by going on Masscourts.org, looking up the case, and clicking on the image of the PDF listed on the public court docket. This publication of public court records is what is commonly known as “journalism.”
Today I got an angry phone call from this man:

Michael Clemente is a private investigator licensed in Rhode Island, who has apparently been hired by Kylee’s family. He immediately came out threatening me, accusing me of publishing Kylee’s sister Faith’s social security number, address, and phone number. I had no idea what he was talking about, since all I did was publish the publicly available police report and statement of facts that the court published online.
Apparently what happened was that the police and court failed to redact Faith Monteiro’s personal information in their report before publishing it online. I didn’t know about any of this until I heard from Michael Clemente this morning. I attempted to explain to him that I had gotten the document from the court and simply posted the PDF on my website. I attempted to explain to him that he should be calling the courthouse and asking them why they did this.
But of course Michael Clemente failed to contact the courthouse because he’s a very stupid person, and the last thing he should be doing is investigating anything. In fact, the only reason Groom was arrested was because he confessed to the crime. What exactly did the PI hired by the family do to help solve this crime? What did the tragedy pimp do besides call up a journalist and make a fool of himself?
I obviously do not want to see Faith Monteiro’s personal information published on a public court document, and was happy to download the PDF again and do what the court and police failed to do – redact the report. I have done so:

But I only did that out of respect for Faith Monteiro and her family, and IN SPITE OF their moronic, incompetent boomer PI Michael Clemente. Mr. Clemente threatened me on the phone, telling me that if I did not remove the report entirely, then he would retaliate by posting my address, phone number, and social security information for the world to see.
I am a very reasonable person who doesn’t want to see innocent people like Faith Monteiro hurt or damaged. But I’m not the kind of guy who you can call up and threaten, nor do I take directions on what I MUST do from people like Michael Clemente. I told him I was recording our conversation, but unfortunately the audio did not record. However, he did follow up on our call after hanging up on me, with some copy and paste Chat GPT nonsense about how it was illegal to post private information online.

- I didn’t publish her social security number – the court did.
- I was interested in the police report because I was writing a story about the arrest of Gregory Groom. I didn’t even notice that they had mistakingly failed to redact the report to protect Faith’s privacy.
- I did not publish anything “with the intent to cause harm.”
- The only one actively causing harm to Faith Monteiro is Michael Clemente, as his threats would’ve led a less reasonable person than me to keep the original unredacted report up just to spite him.
He continued to message me, telling me what a bad journalist I was, thus completely missing the point that I wasn’t the one who made the unredacted police report available to the public.

What a maroon.
Clearly he wasn’t getting the issue, and he ended the conversation by telling me that would be charged with “cyber harassment” if I responded to his moronic text messages.

Imagine hiring someone this unfamiliar with how laws and public records work to be your private investigator? The Monteiro family was clearly taken advantage of by this goon, and it’s unclear what exactly he did to help find Kylee Monteiro.
I spoke with Faith Monteiro after that, and she was much more pleasant. She called Taunton District Court, and the clerk there lied to her and told her that they were completely denying publishing a police report that had her personal information in it. I went back online and noticed that the image of the statement of facts had been removed:

In other words, they were alerted to their mistake, deleted it, and then lied and said they never put it out in the first place. I got it directly from there yesterday. I gladly redacted it myself after being notified, and the redaction is now on the report:
searchresults (18)Michael Clemente’s business is apparently called “Mr. And Mrs. Detective.” Here’s a link to his bootleg website. They specialize in signs that your partner is cheating on you.

He’s also done some highly rated YouTube shows sitting awkwardly and uncomfortably in front of someone’s fireplace, promoting his business while wearing his boomer socks as high as they can possibly stretch.

Hire this ding dong at your own peril.
