One thing I love about “The Squad,” is the complete and utter destruction they cause to their own party. It’s great to watch, and we might have a new member of The Squad trying out in Massachusetts.
Not a single congressional district in Massachusetts is in any danger of being won by a Republican, as we haven’t had one since 1996 and won’t have one any time soon. So the only way to take out an incumbent is someone in their own party has to primary them. That’s why I sit back and eat my popcorn when people like Ayanna Pressley and AOC get backed by Justice Democrats and take down well established, but way too white democrats like Joe Crowley and Mike Capuano. I want this to happen in every single congressional district.
But the fact of the matter is that it can only happen in really radical districts like Pressley’s, which is the most liberal in Massachusetts. I have a hard time imagining that happening to Jim McGovern or Bill Keating. Steven Lynch was challenged in a primary by a Justice Democrats prop in 2018 and whopped his/her ass, because his constituency is too blue collar and normal.
But Richie Neal’s first congressional district is an interesting one, and since he’s an old white guy who’s held the seat since 1989, this was bound to happen eventually:
Alex Morse is running for Congress. As you can see, the 30 year old Mayor of Holyoke has completely fixed that city.
Time for a new challenge.
We’ve written about Alex Morse several times. Here’s some of his greatest hits:
- Banned travel to North Carolina because they wouldn’t let penis in the girl’s bathroom.
- Refused to support funding for a fire engine, three people died in a fire, and he blamed firefighters.
- Commended a Holyoke High School student who delivered a blatantly racist speech at a school assembly.
- Did a campaign stop with his most ardent supporters, flashing gang signs, which included the biggest heroin dealer on this side of the Connecticut River.
But as hilariously awful as Alex Morse is, don’t be fooled – this is a legitimate challenge. He’s young and gay (bold, brave, and beautiful), which helps him overcome the fact that he’s white and male. He’s declaring over a year before the election, and he’s gonna be getting a lot of campaign contributions when Justice Democrats inevitably supports him. JD has unlimited resources and uses it to go after people like Richie Neal, who are too old, too white, and too non-woke for them. They seek out people like AOC, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley, who then attack established democrats for not being woke enough. They throw money behind them, promise more giveaways, and treat these candidates like their trained puppets.
Richie Neal is one of the most powerful members of Congress, which is why the woke faction of the party is pissed at him – he hasn’t tried to impeach Trump or done enough to get his taxes. That’s the angle Alex Morse is taking:
“There’s an urgency to this moment in Massachusetts’ First District and our country, and that urgency is not matched by our current representative in Congress,” said Morse in a statement. “The fact is, the congressman has been largely silent on the issues that matter most. He’s been absent, unaccountable, and unavailable. It’s not just that we need new leadership in Washington. We need new leadership that understands that we can no longer settle for small, incremental, and compromising progress. We need to be on offense. We need to be fighting for something, not just against.”
He pointed out he was among the first mayors in the country to declare his city a sanctuary city for undocumented immigrants.
The end says it all. Richie Neal recently voted against an impeachment inquiry because he’s an adult. He probably realizes that the Green New Deal is a hilarious joke, and that getting rid of private health insurance is the dumbest idea ever. He’s still liberal, just not liberal enough. If you’re not supporting open borders and free abortions for transgender men then you’re out of the party. And for that Richie Neal has to pay the price.
The woke crew isn’t looking for moderation, and they only want people who think that everyone who disagrees with them is racist. Alex Morse fits the bill.
“Anyone who supports this racist president is also racist.”
Calling 60 million people racist is exactly what The Squad is looking for. And he’s desperately trying to seek their approval and join their club.
As he kicked off his campaign, Morse didn’t hesitate to align himself ideologically with Pressley, AOC, and their fellow “Squad” members, Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.). “It’s not members of Congress that have been there for 20 or 30 years that are setting the agenda and changing the conversation and impacting where the country is going,” he told me. “It’s those members who have been there as short as seven months.”
Morse added that he’d “be thrilled to be welcomed into the Squad.”
Can I play too?
Please? I can call people racist too! Plus, I’m gay, so if you let me join I can accuse Trump of hating gay people too. You can call me Gay-OC!!
The First Congressional District is one of the most gerrymandered in the state.
As you can see, it’s western Mass, with a bunch of towns that cut into Central Mass. I circled the towns that I did to show you areas of D1 that Trump won.
This is gerrymandering 101 – separate conservative towns. If you let all those red towns stay in a Central Mass district, you might eventually get a republican congressman. So they add them to D1 (which is overwhelmingly liberal), and give D2 Northampton and Amherst in order to keep that district blue.
But Gay-OC could win because this is probably the most radical district outside of Pressley’s. You’ve got Springfield, Chicopee, and Holyoke, along with the overwhelmingly radical hippie towns of Hampshire, Berkshire, and Franklin County. If and when Justice Democrats get behind him it will be time to get your popcorn ready for the woke olympics.
