Attention Turtle Riders: We Need You To Send This Blog To Joe Rogan Because He Wants To Question Jack Dorsey About Examples Of Twitter Censorship

Joe Rogan has the most donwloaded podcast on iTunes, and for good reason. He’s a middle of the road guy who has a variety of people on his show from all sides of the political spectrum. More than anything he’s an advocate for free speech, which is why many on the left have labeled him as “alt-right.” Because that’s what happens now when you don’t get in line and follow woke protocol.

The other day he had Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on this show, which was a great opportunity for him to ask the hard questions, since Twitter is notorious for arbitrarily suspending accounts, most of which seem to be on the right, or are associated with independent journalism. Joe has had on people like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Milo (his appearance destroyed his own career), and Steven Crowder, who have talked about censorship on Twitter and Facebook a lot, so a lot of people expected that he would ask Jack Dorsey the tough questions. But as you can see from the likes vs. dislikes…..

….that didn’t happen.

I’ll analyze the video later in the blog, but we wanted to start off with an important call to action. In a nutshell, Joe Rogan didn’t come in prepared, and didn’t ask Jack Dorsey specific questions about censorship on his platform. Jack Dorsey has testified in front of Congress that Twitter is the public square. He said it again on the podcast, and even said that Twitter was a right. But Rogan didn’t press him on that, and he wants to make up for it:

As you can see, he wants people to contact him. If you care about the cause, please do the following:

  1. Message Joe Rogan’s Facebook page, telling them about how our phones and wifi have been completely blacklisted from Twitter, and include a link to this blog.
  2. Do the same thing except in the comments of this post and include a link to this blog.
  3. Send a Joe a link to my book “I Am Turtleboy” and tell him and whoever else wants it a free copy of it. The book has 86 reviews, all of which are 5 stars, and thousands of people have read it. It’s a wakeup call about censorship in digital era, and the effect it has on public discourse and democracy.

Emphasize that Turtleboy is an influential, independent media outlet responsible that the Boston Globe credited with being responsible for exposing the biggest scandals in the history of the Massachusetts State Police. Emphasize that we are in the business of news, not politics. And real news like the content we produce should be shared in the public square known as Twitter.

Here’s a timeline of our censorship with Twitter.

  • Sometime in 2014 – @TurtleboySports is created as a Twitter handle. By October of 2017 we have almost 20,000 followers. We apply for the blue verified checkmark to separate ourselves from an account called @TurtIeboySports that uses an upper case “i” instead of a lower case “L” in “Turtle,” uses our logo, and intentionally tweets out offensive and immature things hoping that people will think it’s us and discredit us as a source.

And it works.

That account is still up.

  • October 29, 2017 – Twitter suspends us for 12 hours. No reason is given why, which Twitter says they must do in their own terms of service.

October 31, 2017 – Twitter permanently suspends @TurtleboySports. No reason was given, and we never heard back from Twitter after appealing it. South Shore Turtlegirl creates a new account that day – @RealTurtleboy

March 21 – The @RealTurtleboy account was suspended on March 21, 2018. No reason is given, no email was sent explaining why, and no one responded to our appeals. The lack of reason given is a violation of Twitter’s terms of service, which are a legally binding contract. North Shore Turtlebabe creates new Twitter account (since Twitter rules so that individuals who have been suspended cannot make new accounts) @TurtleboyNews.

June 14 – Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt” on her show, prompting conservatives to point out that Roseanne, Megyn Kelley, Laura Ingraham and others on the right have been kicked off their shows, or had large boycotts against their advertisers, for saying things that other people find offensive.  The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavadra, a staunch conservative, started organizing a campaign on Twitter to urge her sponsors to leave, and had some success.

I thought it was stooping to their level and hypocritical for conservatives to whine about censorship and then participate in it. So, given the context of the conversation (use of the word cunt) we tweeted out that this was being cunty, and it was removed by Twitter because it allegedly violated their rules, and the account is suspended for 12 hours.

Even though if you search for “cunt” or “cunty” on Twitter there are millions of tweets that come up and none of the accounts have been suspended.

Obviously then calling someone cunty is not a violation of their terms of service.

July 16, 2018 – @TurtleboyNews is growing very quickly and is approaching 10,000 followers in just four months. After Weymouth Police Officer Michael Chesna is killed by Manny Lopes another user attempts to defend Lopes, and we respond by saying, “It’s pathetic how hard you’re trying to rationalize his (Lopes) stupid decisions. He deserved to die.”

This was in reference to why he should receive the death penalty for his crime, which is a political opinion that you are allowed to have on Twitter, and does not violate their rules. But we are still suspended for 7 days with no appeals process.

August 14 – Twitter starts enforcing new policy that blacklists users who have previously been suspended. Since we have had both @TurtleboySports and @RealTurtleboy suspended we get banned permanently. How do they know it’s us? Different people created each account? Anyone can make a Turtleboy account. It’s because I have personally signed into those accounts using a device that has also signed into previously suspended accounts. My wife, who has never used Twitter, attempts to create a Twitter account on her computer, but because she is using the same wifi as me, she is immediately suspended. Everyone in my family is banned for life.

August 20 – Friends who come to my house attempt to sign into their Twitter are suspended because they used our wifi, which is blacklisted by Twitter.

September 3 – A follower makes an account called @Nunchuck_Ninja, using his phone number and wifi, and lets us use it to tweet out Turtleboy stuff. We begin using it throughout the Kavanaugh hearings, as this is an issue of public interest that citizens should be allowed to voice their opinions on if Twitter is the public square it claims to be.

October 10 – Kathy Griffin called Jeff Flake a “cunt” because of how he voted on Kavanaugh.

https://twitter.com/kathygriffin/status/1048254838968967168

The @Nunchuck_Ninja Turtleboy account was kicked off Twitter for retweeting her in order to show that left wingers are allowed to use the word cunt, but we were suspended for using that word on June 14. Unlike her we were not actually calling anyone a cunt. We were just talking about her calling people cunts. Screenshot:

A turtle rider asked us what this was in reference to so we responded by saying, “When she (Griffin) says cunt she’s calling the right people cunt. We called the wrong person a cunt.”

In other words, we were simply pointing out that Kathy Griffin is allowed to call Jeff Flake a cunt because he voted for Kavanaugh, but we can’t even mention the word because it’s “promoting violence on the basis of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation,” etc.

November 26 – Another turtle rider creates an account called @UncleTurtleboy that I use. I am immediately prompted to provide a phone number when I sign in, and give the turtle rider’s. She confirms it’s her when she gets the code. I use this account for a few weeks until Twitter suspends the account for saying that there are 2 genders, and we will not be compelled to say otherwise.

So that’s our history. You probably don’t have two hours to spare, but if you do then watch this.

Dorsey calls Twitter the public square several times, as he did when he testified in front of Congress.

Here are some other highlights if you didn’t watch it:

36:00 – “People go on and they coordinate blocks and reporting of a particular account to get it shut down and get the voice off the service.”

This is exactly what has happened to us. Dorsey claims they are cracking down on that, but the people doing it remain on Twitter while we are blacklisted.

37:00 – Dorsey admits that the reporting process is entirely automated, because billion dollar companies like Twitter cut corners by not hiring the human labor necessary to accurately police their platforms.

48:00 – Rogan points out that a “very small amount of people” are making decisions as to what can be discussed in the public square. Dorsey responds by saying, “Is it something everyone has a right to, or is it something that should be restricted to people who behave and carry themselves in a certain way. I believe it’s something everyone has a right to.”

If Twitter is a something we have a right to then why is he banning us from his platform?

49:00 – Rogan shows that he has no idea why Alex Jones was kicked off (for confronting CNN reporter Oliver Darcy outside of the Kavanaugh hearings because Darcy had led the charge to have him removed from Facebook). Dorsey says Jones violated the terms of service but isn’t aware of what the actual violations were. This is a lie.

51:37 – Dorsey says, “We have to pay attention to people who are using Twitter to shut down the voices of others. That’s where it gets weaponized. Everyone has a right to these technologies.”

This is literally what is happening to us. People mass report us to shut down our voices, they weaponize this process, and our “rights” to use Twitter (his words) are violated.

Rogan asks him, “What does Donald Trump have to do to be removed from your platform.”

The truth is they would never ban Trump. He has 60 million followers. He makes them money by bringing people to Twitter. He legitimizes them. They are on the news every single night because he makes policy announcements on this platform. The only thing that matters to Twitter is money. Kicking us off costs them pennies on the dollar. Kicking Trump off would make them insignificant. If Trump truly believed in standing up to censorship he would stop using Twitter.

The following influential conservatives (and an occasional liberal who misgenders someone) with millions of followers have been suspended, many of them right around the time of an election (October and September):

  • James Woods
  • Jesse Kelly
  • Michael Knowles – suspended for telling a Dad joke.
  • Laura Loomer
  • Meghan Murphy – Candadian feminist suspended for questioning whether biological men can possibly become biological women. The mobs who Jack Dorsey told Joe Rogan he is cracking down on gleefully brag about mass reporting her.

https://twitter.com/ConnerHabib/status/1063470751368368128

Yet too many leftists to count are allowed to remain up. Among the most egregious:

  • Kathy Griffin demands names of completely innocent Covington children for the purpose of using her platform to dox and harass them.

https://twitter.com/sarahjeong/status/538553252514525184

Which is fine, as long as it goes both ways. Obviously we’re not big time enough to be invited on Rogan’s podcast, but if enough of you people flood their inbox they may take notice. Anything is worth a shot.

Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help.
